What to do when you have obesity gene running in your family.

You have obesity running in your family and you are anxious that you have the gene which is accused of causing this type of obesity, but you don’t know what to do or whether it is possible to avoid being overweight!

Although the role of this gene in causing obesity is not quite clear, it is obvious that obesity rates are higher in some families than in others. On the other hand, being belonged to one of those families doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be obese. At least you can control the environmental factors that increase the risk of developing obesity since the genetic studies show that, generally,  genes itselves can’t solely cause diseases unless they get help from certain exterior factors. So, because it is better to safe than to say sorry, it is advisable to take some steps to prevent adding extra pounds to your weight.

To begin with, researchers recommend you exercise for at least 3 hours a day. This seems crazy, but if you consider the work at home, both cleaning and gardening, or if you try to use the stairs instead of the elevator or to go to your work on foot or riding a bicycle, the mission could be possible.

In addition to the regular exercise, a healthy diet is recommended. Different types of diet work with different people. The bottom line
is supporting the body with the essential elements and consuming services of fruit and vegetable several times a day. Keeping
scales at home is very useful in controling the weigh and observing any nuance.

Moreover, it is wise to have regular checkups and blood tests to detect any early sign of any disease that may be accompanied by obesity, like diabetes and heart attack, especially if they exist in the history of the family.

Beside having the obesity gene, there are some factors which increase the risk of developing obesity. One of them is the gender. Studies show that women has double the chance of being overweight. Another factor is the age; both sexes are susceptible to gain more weight by age. In addition to the sex and age, the background may have some effects. For example, people who live in the colder countries, whose metabolic systems are programmed to work slower, tend to burn less energy, leading to heavier bodies.

After all, when obesity cannot be avoided, there is still hope with the lab-band surgery, which is proving its success day after day.
