Obesity is now number-1-health-risk in North America
Not long time ago tobacco was on the top of the list of disease and death factors in North America. However, obesity, which has invaded the continent over the past few years, has become number 1 in the list.
According to statistics done in an American university, obesity has started to surpass smoking almost two years ago. Besides, each year obesity is getting worse and worse.
The research also revealed that not only has the number of obese people increased, but also smoking has been reduced among smokers.
Moreover, Canadian researchers announced that findings are not better here in Canada, and obesity rates are plunging as high as in the U.S.
On the other hand, findings showed that the number of people killed by smoking is still larger than the number of the ones died because of obesity. Still, the findings should be considered as a warning and obesity must be taken seriously by health officials.
